Thursday, Sept. 24th:

  • Meeting Points:
    • East Siders: meet at Great Lakes Crossing Mall (4000 Baldwin Rd, Auburn Hills) on the parking lot between TJ Maxx and Mc Donald’s at 9AM. Departure at 9:30AM.
    • Mid/West-Siders: meet at Meijer (1350 W Lake Lansing Rd, East Lansing) at 9AM. Departure at 10AM.
  • All caravans meet at the Doherty Restaurant at 11:30AM for lunch.
  • Get back on the road at 12:30PM. heading north on I75.
  • Get off I75 at exit 310 (Indian River) to take the “Tunnel of Trees” from Harbor Springs to Cross Village.
  • Get back on I75 just south of the Mackinac Bridge.
  • Cross the bridge ($3 toll, both ways) and stop for dinner in St Ignace at the Galley Restaurant at 6:30PM.
  • Get back on the road at 8PM.
  • Arrive in Newberry at close to 10PM, check in at the Evening Star / Park-a-Way Motel.


*** Depending on the weather, activities of Friday and Saturday might be swapped in order to have the best weather for the Pictured Rocks Cruise. ***

*** All activities are optional, but please let us know if you will be participating as it will help to make sure we don’t “lose” anyone. ***


Friday, Sept. 25th :

*** There are no entrance fees at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. ***

  • Gathering in hotel parking lot at 7:30AM for departure at 8AM. Make sure you have a good breakfast,  lunch is not planned until 1:30PM.
  • Motor to Munising for Pictured Rocks Cruise.
  • Get on the boat for 10AM cruise. There is a restaurant at the dock in case you’d want to grab a snack before the cruise. The cruise lasts 3 hours. Tickets are discounted to $24 per person if we have at least 20 people. People will buy their own ticket the day of the cruise.
  • Alternative activities if you don’t go on the cruise are the various Waterfalls around Munising & the Oswald Bear Ranch in Newberry.
  • Lunch at the Dog Patch Restaurant at 1:30PM.
  • Leave at 2:30PM for Kitch-iti-kipi, The Big Spring Palms Book State Park (1.5 hour drive).
  • Explore park at your own leisure…
  • Dinner at the Timber Charlies Restaurant & Pub in Newberry at 7:30PM (2 hour drive from the Big Spring park).

Saturday, Sept. 26th:

*** You need a State Park Motor Vehicle Permit to enter Tahquamenon Falls State Park. $6 daily, $24 yearly for Michigan residents, $8 daily, $29 yearly for non-residents. ***

*** Permit provides admission to all Michigan State Parks and may be purchased at the Park entrance. ***

  • Gathering in hotel parking lot at 9AM for departure at 9:30AM. Again, make sure you have a good breakfast before getting on the road.
  • Tahquamenon Falls Lower & Upper.
  • Lunch at The Tahquamenon Falls Brewery & Pub at 12:30PM.
  • Afternoon Scenic Motoring (maps will be provided): Paradise, Whitefish Point, Point Iroquois, Mission Hill Cemetery Overlook, Bay Mills, Brimley and more…
  • Dinner at Zellars Village Inn in Newberry at 7:30PM.

Sunday, Sept. 27th:

  • Ride back home or wherever you wish to go…
